Diary Entry No……Screw the number (and the last 45 mins of Dostana)!!!

As I had expected I am totally slacking in maintaining this blog…. story of my life!

But this time I am not giving up. Been really confused ever since I started this blog. I told my self that I have to write something substantial and hence made “My Thoughts” the default category. But I don’t think that I’m quite there yet….. writing something substantial does not come naturally to me…

Hell writing does not come naturally to me!!

I have decided that my blog is predominantly going to be my Diary and I’m going to write it at least 3 times a week for starters and that does not mean making three entries in day (loud thinking!!) and I was pretty stupid in trying to give numbers to the Diary entries…some schoolboy kink I guess!!!……so here goes

(I have also changed the layout and would be changing it more often as that’s the whole fun of wordpress)

Anyways…went to see Dostana at the DHA Cinema…the fun bit was that we went with our Parents and it just hit me that it’s been a real while since we’ve gone out to enjoy all together as a family (I’m not going to include eating out as that is just a sick addiction of anyone who insists upon being a resident of this city called Lahore!!!)

Khair not going to get sentimental nor philosophical about the importance of a family values and stuff like that…

However  I do want to voice my opinion about this movie…

It has also been a while that I have laughed and enjoyed a movie so much at least till the interval…and it is surely the first time that I have been disappointed so much by one of the worst and a most pathetically prolonged endings in a film. I mean what the hell went wrong. This is the first Indian  movie I have in a Pakistani Cinema and it felt beautiful listening to the whole crowd ballisticly laughing away and then to witness the pin drop silence in the 45 minutes felt a very noticeable contrast..no one even laughed at the kissing scene which was supposed to be the so called pinnacle …I hate to be subjective and get swayed by my personal opinions but the audience’s reaction just substantiated my feelings…

Why do we do this…why does someone so creative and seemingly a master of his art blow everything right at the end…for me it was a lesson learnt!

It’s good to hear u haven’t give up on the blog. The blog isn’t meant to be a burden, it’s personal space write whatever u want, once in a while u might get something substantial. About Dostana I’ve seen a couple of movies with dragged endings spoils the whole experience doesn’t it! Anyways Best of luck with the writing!

If you recall the book Da Vinci Code, or Angel of Demons, without going into the merits/demerits of those 2 books, they were written in a fascinating manner which kept the reader hooked on to them. fast paced and well edited – 3/4th of the book was great but the last bit – THE so called climax – was an absolute disappointment. Complete turn off and fizzed out all the excitement that had built up in the preceding parts.

I havent seen Dostana, but generally i do agree with what you wrote there. Writing the end bit happens to be the most difficult part. Much difficult than the intro. You have to create the sort of impact which supercedes everything prior to that and create a long lasting impact.

This is why i think the movies, the books, the music albums, they need to be more organised and atleast have an idea how they want to end it, rather than just going through a flow and by the end, be bereft of ideas to give an effective conclusion.

Thats why you should start acting, like a villian, in horror flicks.
