Ok I watched both movies and loved both of them. But the end of Oye Lucky Lucky Oye could have been better if they had gotten rid of that whole tv show thingy and made it end with him turning around and telling the paan walla his name– so much more dramatic. I don’t agree with you about Slumdog Millionaire though, I don’t think the film makers made it to prove some hugantic point to the West, I just think it was a fun movie with the basic Bollywood masalla formula except they did it up real nice. Sure, the English part was kinda weird but I thoroughly enjoyed it =P

i totally disagree with ali noors post, the thing is tht i met so many western ppl and all of them are too much in to this movie, europians americans, i mean everyone i ve been to so many places i mean to their home listerally where i have seen they watchin slum dogg with their family and they were so much impressed by the fact tht how the poverty in india is and how ppl are servivin in this country they didnt know such act which shown in the film like makin money out of the grabage and arranging food aswell.. they were totally shocked by this act which they didnt know and thts the part hit them alot perhaps.

we didnt like the movie we see them daily in our life and we know whats going on.

they were unaware about it but once they are aware – oscars and oscars..

Dear Ali Noor..
I’m a huge Noori fan and I don’t know why there are very less noori lovers in India…
You are right about the film…esp. slum kids talking english…when they were young (which was the best part of the film) they spoke hindi but later…dunno what happened…
anyways..
I never heard Noori performing in India like some of other Pakistani bands like Strings and the good for nothing Jal does…
Please doooooooooooo come to India… ones and more and more often….

although I just watched 5 movies last year, but I think The Dark Knight was the best among them,the best part of slumdog was when the kid jumps into the pool of excretion, i watched the movie in a sleepy state on a plane , how he was able to answer some questions also seems unbelievable or maybe I just dozed off in between?

I haven’t seen many indian movies, but of the ones I’ve seen, I have enjoyed Devdas, Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, and Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. Each had a beautiful message for the viewers.

Slumdog Millionaire has been over-hyped, but it is a genre of movie making that most of the world have yet to see. I was happy to see it wasn’t a typical Indian style movie that was laden with stupid plots, singing and dancing. There were still plenty of holes in the story, but it was overall a heartfelt movie that people of any background could feel. As far as the best movie…I don’t think so. There are other movies that can trump Slumdog…but it seems that band wagoners will continue to overrate the movie until the public begins to believe this was the best flick of the year.
